Stefanie Sun has been praised by her good friend, Chinese singer Han Hong, for her generous donations to Han’s charity foundation.

Sun, 47, was the guest performer at Han’s concert in Beijing, China, on Oct 7.

Han, 54, revealed during the show that Sun has donated “more than 10 million yuan (S$1.8 million)” to the Han Hong Love Charity Foundation over the years. The Daybreak (2001) singer added that Sun has consistently requested anonymity with each donation by using the name “Ms Sun”.

“I believe we should promote acts of kindness and good deeds,” Han said. “This era needs positive energy. Why can’t we speak out about our good deeds?”

The pair then performed one of Sun’s classic songs, Encounter (2003).

Sun took to social media late on Oct 7, saying she was determined to make it to Han’s concert even though she missed two flights.

She also clarified that the total amount of her donations was not 10 million yuan, although she did not reveal the actual figure.

“Speaking of Teacher Han, she’s no stranger to us,” Sun wrote in Chinese. “She always shines her light on others without hesitation in her philanthropic work.”

She added: “Having followed her work for years, I support her foundation with the greatest joy. Although it is not 10 million yuan, every cent of goodwill is amplified by fan support, allowing more love to be shared.”

This is not the first time Han has highlighted Sun’s generosity.

She revealed in a Weibo post on July 12 that Sun had made an anonymous donation. The Han Hong Love Charity Foundation was at that time planning to donate two million yuan to help with disaster relief for victims affected by the floods in Guizhou province’s Rongjiang and Congjiang counties.

“Time and again, she asks me not to mention it, but why should good deeds be done in secret?” Han wrote. “She always shares her love quietly. We accept this kindness and are forever grateful. Thank you, my dear friend Stefanie Sun. See you on stage.”
