The Script – Satellites World Tour

Irish pop-rock band The Script’s concert is part of their first tour since lead guitarist, vocalist and co-founder Mark Sheehan died of an undisclosed illness in April 2023 at the age of 46.

Besides their biggest hits such as Hall Of Fame (2012), Breakeven (2008) and The Man Who Can’t Be Moved (2008), the band will also play new songs from their seventh album, Satellites.

Released in August 2024, the album went to No. 1 on the Irish charts and No. 2 on the British charts. It pays tribute to Sheehan, with singer Danny O’Donoghue revealing that the hooded silhouette on the cover represents their late band member.

No stranger to Singapore, The Script have performed at the Singapore Indoor Stadium four times over the years, most recently in 2022. They also held a gig at Fort Canning Park in 2011.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber musical is making its Asia premiere in Singapore at Marina Bay Sands’ Sands Theatre.

It features renowned English singer-actress Sarah Brightman as Norma Desmond, a silent movie star longing to make her comeback. This will be the diva’s first musical theatre production in Singapore, after a three-decade break from the stage.

Sunset Boulevard premiered in London in 1993 and won seven Tony Awards in 1995, including for Best Musical, Best Original Score and Best Book.

It went through a West End revival in 2023 and won seven awards at the 2024 Laurence Olivier Awards, including for Best Musical Revival and Best Director for Lloyd Webber.

In an earlier interview with ST, Brightman, 64, said she relished playing Norma as she identified with the character.

“Norma is such a fabulous role, especially for somebody of my age with all the experience,” she said. “Being a national star all my life, I could relate to Norma’s plight, as she was once this huge star.”
