Seventeen Right Here World Tour In Singapore

Top K-pop boy band Seventeen will be back in Singapore for their biggest concerts here to date over two nights at the National Stadium.

The group’s last show here was at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, a venue with a smaller capacity.

It is a fitting upgrade for one of the most successful outfits in K-pop. Seventeen are best known for hits such as Don’t Wanna Cry (2017), Super (2023) and Love, Money, Fame (2024), featuring American producer DJ Khaled.

The shows are part of a global tour that includes South-east Asian stops in Bulacan and Bangkok as well dates in the United States and Japan.

Fans should also check out Marina Bay Sands’ (MBS) collaboration with the group, The Wonderland With Seventeen. The facade of the integrated resort will be lit in the band’s signature pink and blue hues from 7pm to midnight on Jan 25 and 26.

MBS dining spots will also serve Seventeen-inspired food until Jan 26. For example, at Bread Street Kitchen by Gordon Ramsay, a restaurant and bar by the famed British celebrity chef, fans can tuck into the Carat Kick Burger ($34). It references Carat, the name given to Seventeen’s fans.

Home-grown synth-pop act Sun Cell will mark the launch of his debut album Movements (In The Dark) with this gig.

The singer and producer, whose real name is Daryl Hor, made his debut in 2022 and created a buzz with songs that add a modern slant to new wave and post-punk music from yesteryear.

The show will be divided into two parts, reflecting the album. A tribute to his grandparents, the first half of the album comprises songs from his recent EP, Movements, while the second half spotlights collaborations with other artistes.

The visuals during the concert feature clips of Chinese opera, a nod to his family’s involvement in Peking opera. The set design will include vintage furniture that evokes his childhood.

Special guests include Nosedive, a Singaporean shoegaze/dreampop band which collaborated with Sun Cell on a recent single, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart. It is one of the songs from Movements (In The Dark), which also includes collaborations with two other home-grown acts, Xena Giam and motifs.

MRT: Esplanade
When: Feb 1, 7.30pm

We Are All Aliens – Quis Album Launch

Singapore Mandarin pop-rock band Quis explore themes of alienation in their new album We Are All Aliens.

Quis, a Mandarin pop-rock band from Singapore, released their third album We Are All Aliens in November – and you can now watch them perform the new tracks live at this album launch show.

The songs are inspired by the sense of alienation brought about by the pressures of the modern world.

Destination deals with momentary happiness, while the title track tackles universal feelings of self-doubt and non-belonging.

Band leader Sean Lim says in a statement: “We hope these songs offer comfort and a sense of relatability as we continue on this journey of discovering what life is all about.”

Formed in 2008, Quis released debut album Transition in 2015 and an EP, Hello, Strange New World, in 2022. They have performed at various shows and festivals in Singapore and around the region, including at the Hohaiyan Rock Festival in Taiwan in 2018.

Where: Esplanade Annexe Studio, 1 Esplanade Drive
