British musical comedy Six, which premiered in Edinburgh in 2017, is being performed in Singapore for the first time. The show is based on the six wives of Henry VIII, who was the king of England from 1509 to 1547, and reimagines the women taking the mic and stepping out of their infamous husband’s shadow.

The production, which features original musical numbers such as Don’t Lose Ur Head and All You Wanna Do, was nominated for five Laurence Olivier Awards in 2019, including in the categories of Best New Musical, Best Theatre Choreographer and Best Costume Design. It also won the 2022 Tony Awards for Best Original Score and Best Costume Design of a Musical.

Although based on historical characters, the show is expected to be an exuberant celebration of 21st-century girl power.
