SINGAPORE – Below disco balls and flashing stage lights, Lisa from K-pop girl group Blackpink made a glittering appearance in the early hours of Nov 10 at Marquee Singapore nightclub in Marina Bay Sands.

The Thai rapper-singer, who is slated to hold her first solo fan meeting in the Republic at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Nov 11, appeared as part of a pre-event party at the nightspot.

About 2,000 people attended the event, with general admission tickets priced from $80 to $150. When doors opened on Nov 9 at 10pm, some 200 fans were already in line to get in, and the queue stretched to the floor above Marquee.

At 1.23am, the smiling 27-year-old music star appeared behind the DJ console in a long-sleeved denim jacket, while her song Rockstar, released in June, came on.

For nine minutes, the coquettish head-turner waved, signed autographs and took wefies with the crowd.

She also blew air kisses and posed for photographs, at times resting her face on both hands, or making a large “heart” shape with her arms. She appeared to be having fun, swaying along to songs and adding a hair flick or two.

At 1.32am, she moved from the console to a private area, before reappearing at 2.12am for another two minutes. This time, Lisa said to the crowd: “Hi everyone, thank you for coming to see me today. Are you guys having fun?”

“Who is coming to see me (on Nov 11)?”, she added, to loud cheers. In all, she was reportedly at the venue from 1 to 2.30am.

During her appearance at Marquee Singapore, Lisa took wefies with the crowd.

The rest of the night featured music curated by Lisa and played by Marquee’s resident DJs Zippy and Fvder. Among the tracks were Doja Cat’s Paint The Town Red (2023), Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now (2020), Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You (2017) and Blackpink’s How You Like That (2020).

Singaporean pre-school teacher Jovin Tan, who attended the party with a friend, said she saw Lisa only for “less than three seconds as there were a lot of people in front of me and everyone’s phones were held so high up”.

The 23-year-old, who has been a fan of Lisa since Blackpink debuted in 2016 and had attended the group’s 2023 concert at the National Stadium, added: “I felt her appearance was too short. It would also have been great if the DJ played more K-pop songs to get the vibes going.”

Another attendee, Malaysian teacher Venus Tia, said: “Sadly, I saw only Lisa’s hair. When she was about to appear on stage, my heart was beating so fast. I did see her on other people’s phone screens, so I am still very happy.”

The 24-year-old, who won her Marquee tickets through a giveaway, also felt Lisa’s appearance was too brief and wished she had spoken more.

But at least there is still the Nov 11 fan meeting for Ms Tia to look forward to. Ticket prices for the event range from $168 to $348.

She said: “I really want to see Lisa up close, and I think the fan meeting will give me a better chance.”
