SINGAPORE – Shaw Theatres will close its cineplex at The Seletar Mall on Dec 15, it announced via a press statement on Dec 2. The outlet opened in December 2014.

The management of The Seletar Mall, which is located in the Sengkang West area, has alternative plans for the space.

“Shaw Theatres Seletar was our first boothless cineplex – and it was quite a milestone for us especially in terms of operations and space utilisation as it occupied a much smaller footprint,” Mr Mark Shaw, director of the Shaw Organisation Group of Companies, said in the statement.

Shaw Theatres has seven remaining outlets after the upcoming closure, including at Shaw House in Orchard Road, Jewel Changi Airport and PLQ Mall in Paya Lebar.

The last cinema it shuttered was at JCube in August 2023, when the mall closed.

The closure of Shaw Theatres Seletar comes after mm2 Asia, which operates Cathay Cineplexes,

took over operations of WE Cinemas

at 321 Clementi mall on Nov 1.

Cathay Cineplexes most recently

ended its operations at AMK Hub on June 30

as the space was redesignated for other uses.
