Hong Kong pop star Jackson Wang, a member of K-pop boy band Got7, is recovering from a health scare that took place while he was on a television variety show in Seoul over the weekend.
The 30-year-old had been focused on advancing his career in China in recent years, but has made a comeback with the South Korean group.
The septet – also comprising Mark, Jay B, Jinyoung, Youngjae, BamBam and Yugyeom – returned as a full group with the release of their EP Winter Heptagon on Jan 20.
It marked Got7’s first group activity in nearly three years after the release of their last EP, Got7, in May 2022.
According to a statement posted by the group on social media platform X on Jan 26, Wang felt a sudden chest pain while preparing to perform on South Korean music programme Inkigayo.
The singer-rapper was immediately taken to hospital, where he received treatment and is recovering. The statement added he will get sufficient rest before continuing with Got7’s promotional activities.
Got7 are scheduled to hold three concerts in Seoul from Jan 31 to Feb 2 – their first in six years.
It has been a busy month for Wang so far. He attended the Louis Vuitton Men’s Fall-Winter 2025 Show during Paris Fashion Week in the French capital last week, and recently unveiled his collaboration with Nike & Jordan Brand, stepping into the role of global ambassador.
