SINGAPORE – Mediacorp news anchor Glenda Chong has given birth to her first child.
The 51-year-old told news outlet CNA that her son, nicknamed Baby Chan, was born on March 5 at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital.
Chong, who married lawyer Justin Chan in 2014, said they have not decided on the boy’s name and are considering two options.
The couple’s journey to parenthood was challenging. Chong finally conceived after 10 years of trying, which involved 10 cycles of in-vitro fertilisation.
The local TV personality said she is still recovering.
“After a decade of trying, I just want to spend quality time with him, and do things that will make him healthy and happy,” she told CNA.
Chong had earlier showed off pictures from a maternity photo shoot she did with Mr Chan, who is in his late 40s, and their two dogs ahead of her delivery.
In a video reel uploaded to Instagram on March 2, she posted snaps of herself wearing an unbuttoned shirt, a bandeau top and jeans, while Mr Chan cradled her exposed baby bump from behind.
She also posted details of a birthing class she attended in November, and uploaded pictures of her and Mr Chan during their “babymoon” – a vacation prior to a baby’s arrival – at a resort that same month.
