Who: Laura Quinn Goh, 29, is a Singaporean comedienne based in London. Her comedy career began in 2021 when she performed at famed clubs across Scotland, such as The Stand Comedy Club, Monkey Barrel Comedy and Breakneck Comedy. In 2023, she was awarded a Special Commendation for the Glasgow International Comedy Festival’s inaugural Sir Billy Connolly Spirit of Glasgow Award.
Upon her relocation from Scotland to London in 2023, she was booked for shows at comedy clubs like Big Belly Bar & Comedy Club London and The Boat Show Comedy Club. In 2024, she was named a finalist at the independent comedy competition West End New Act of the Year.
Goh is making her Singapore solo debut at The Lemon Stand Comedy Club on Sept 10 with You, Me, And Your Prison Officer, inspired by her relationship with a former boyfriend who served time in prison.
The storytelling-comedy hour on heartbreak and healing has won over audiences with sold-out runs at the Manchester Women in Comedy Festival and Glasgow International Comedy Festival since its debut in October 2024.
Goh says her style is dark, bold and personal, which often catches people off guard because of the contrast between her petite, sweet appearance and her material.
“As a professional comedian, most of my gigs happen on Fridays and Saturdays, so my weekends often start with a train ride or a long drive to a small town somewhere in the United Kingdom.
Not all of these places are famous – some are so obscure that even locals might not have heard of them. I remember performing in Melton Mowbray, which sounds more like a cheese than a town, and turning that trip into a mini adventure.
Sometimes, I may take the train, which can take about six hours there and back for just 10 to 20 minutes on stage.
On some occasions, my 31-year-old Scottish-Pakistani boyfriend drives me to my gigs, especially if the venue is in a remote or interesting city. When that happens, we make the most of it by exploring the area together.

One of my most memorable weekends was when I had a show at Komedia in Bath. The club was wonderful. They even let us stay overnight in a little flat for performers.
My partner and I spent the day wandering through the historic city, soaking in the sights and enjoying each other’s company. It’s moments like these that make the hard work worthwhile.
There was also a time when I was performing in Aberdeen and we explored castles in Stonehaven, a nearby town famous for its historic sites.

If I had absolutely nothing to do, my ideal Saturday would be spent with friends, family or my partner. I love visiting museums or catching a play in London, taking advantage of the city’s vibrant arts and culture scene.
My perfect Sunday is all about recharging. I might take a long walk in the park, lie in bed watching horror movies or indulge in some Indian food.
Sometimes, I just scroll on my phone and let my mind wander. It’s important for me to have that balance between activity and rest.”
