Who: Singaporean actor Maxi Lim is best known for his roles in local movies such as the Ah Boys To Men films and spin-offs (2012 to 2022), and television dramas like The Dream Makers II (2015) and Kin (2018 to 2022).
The 38-year-old, who studied interactive media design at Temasek Polytechnic, is also the founder of interior design (ID) firm Maximo, which will launch on Oct 11. The company handles various types of properties, from HDB flats and landed houses to condominiums and commercial properties.
Even before the launch, the hands-on boss is already working on several projects.
He says: “I’m not just a brand ambassador, I’ll also be heavily involved in the business when it comes to meeting clients and going through the entire ID journey. I want them to have peace of mind.”
Lim has a five-year-old son, Reign, with his former wife, influencer Lizy Teo.
“My ideal Saturday starts with waking up late and nursing a hangover with Americanos. I would have been out drinking the night before. I feel the need to support the local nightlife industry, which I think is struggling.
Typically, I fast in the morning, so I don't eat breakfast. My first meal is lunch. I cook high-protein meals at home – chicken or salmon with a bit of rice.
After that, I spend time with a trainer in the gym opposite my home.
I enjoy attending fight events on Saturdays, such as Ultimate Fighting Championship matches and boxing events. I also show my support for local mixed martial arts organisations. I’m drawn to the sport, and I go down and get a ticket. These fights usually start in the late afternoon and last till evening.
For dinner, I head to Dragoncity Claypot Frog Porridge in Joo Chiat, which many celebrities frequent. I tend to order dishes like gongbao chilli frog.
After that, I go to Freebird, a craft beer bar in Katong Shopping Centre. The boss is home-grown film director Jason Lau, so it’s a place which attracts film-makers and people who like indie music.
I wake up early on Sundays. I pick up my son from his mother’s place and we attend church from about 10am to noon. He loves McDonald’s, so we have our lunch there. He gets a Happy Meal and I order a high-protein option, probably a beef burger – my ‘cheat meal’. I usually spend about four hours with my son before sending him home.
In the late afternoon, I go with my friends to Sentosa beach clubs like Tanjong Beach Club. We take a dip in the pool and get some sun. Then we enjoy cocktails and small bites such as lobster rolls.
For dinner, I head to Arab Street, where I can have either Mediterranean or Indonesian food. I end the night at places there, such as Blu Jaz Cafe, where I order a Guinness and soak in the open-air vibe.”
