PENANG – Malaysian icon Michelle Yeoh was recently spotted filming in George Town, Penang.
The 63-year-old actress delighted onlookers when she appeared at Red Garden Food Paradise foodcourt at around 8pm, arriving in casual attire before changing into a glamorous blue gown and taking the stage to perform several Malay songs.
The crowd enthusiastically joined in the sing-along, with many capturing the memorable moment on their mobile phones.
While some reports suggest Yeoh was in town to film a commercial, others speculate she was shooting for a fashion programme.
Yeoh, who hails from Ipoh, made history in 2023 as the first actress of Asian descent to win Best Actress in the Academy Awards’ 95-year history, earning the honour for her stellar performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022).
She is set to reprise her role as Madame Morrible in Wicked: For Good – the sequel to the 2024 musical fantasy film Wicked – alongside American singer-actress Ariana Grande, British actress Cynthia Erivo and American actor Jeff Goldblum. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
