SINGAPORE – Mandopop stars Ella Chen and WeiBird will be performing together in Singapore.

The pair will stage a joint concert at Resorts World Ballroom in Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) on Sept 14 at 8pm.

Tickets for the show, titled Powerhouse Live Concert, will go on sale on June 28 at noon. Prices range from $138 to $268.

Both Chen and WeiBird will perform their hits from over the years. The pair have previously collaborated on a duet titled Anytime Is Happy Time (2018), a commercial jingle to promote Taiwan Beer.

Chen, 43, is a member of Taiwanese trio S.H.E, one of Mandopop’s most successful and longest-lasting girl groups.

She is also an established solo artiste who sings, acts and hosts. Her notable songs include Bad Girl (2012) and Love Addiction (2015).

She released her first solo album Why Not in 2015. Her second album Bad Habits was released in April. 

In 2023, she took part in the Chinese competition reality series Ride The Wind, which pits female artistes above the age of 30 against one another. She emerged the champion out of 33 participants.

WeiBird, also known as Wei Li-an, is a 37-year-old singer-songwriter best known for Red Scarf (2021). The hit ballad is the theme song for the Taiwanese fantasy-romance movie Till We Meet Again (2021). 

The song clinched the top spot in 2022’s U1000 Music Countdown, an annual event by local radio station UFM100.3. It was also nominated for Song of the Year at the Golden Melody Awards. 

Wei is also known for his numbers like Still (2011) and Girl (2015). 

Although both Wei and Chen are married, Wei says he hopes to have “romantic music sparks” with Chen at the concert. 

He says in a press statement: “I look forward to creating romantic music sparks via great music together with Ella at Powerhouse Live Concert. With ‘World Of Two’ as our concert theme, I hope that our music can inspire all to embrace love and life.”

Chen adds: “Audiences can expect stunning dance choreography, dazzling stage production and our chart-topping classics.”
