LONDON – American pop diva Madonna will kick off a new tour this summer celebrating more than 40 years of her hits.
Organisers said Madonna: The Celebration Tour will take fans on her “artistic journey through four decades and pays respect to the city of New York where her career in music began”.
It will travel to 35 cities, starting with Vancouver on July 15. After a spate of concerts in North America, it will move to Europe, wrapping in Amsterdam on Dec 1.
Madonna, 64, said in a statement that she was “excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for”.
The chart-topping artiste also posted a video on Instagram of herself sitting at a table with celebrities including DJ Diplo, director Judd Apatow and actress-comedienne Amy Schumer.
In it, the group is playing Truth Or Dare, in a nod to her 1991 documentary of the same name.
Schumer dares Madonna to go on tour to perform her famous tracks, and the Material Girl (1984) and Like A Prayer (1989) singer accepts the challenge.
Tickets for the tour, which will also feature special guest Bob the Drag Queen, go on sale on Friday.
Madonna, the best-selling female music artiste of all time, is a seven-time Grammy winner with 14 studio albums to her name, as well as live, soundtrack and compilation recordings.
