Taiwanese TV host Dee Hsu has posted on social media for the first time since her elder sister, Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, died of pneumonia at the age of 48 on Feb 2.
Dee Hsu, 46, posted on Instagram Stories at about midnight on Feb 9 a photo of a bow hairpin that was likely her sister’s. There was no caption.
Taiwan’s Next Apple News reported on Feb 9 that Barbie Hsu’s family members – such as her mother Huang Chun-mei; Dee Hsu; Dee Hsu’s husband, businessman Mike Hsu – and friends, such as Taiwanese TV host Aya Liu and singer-TV host Makiyo, gathered at her home to remember her on Feb 8, the seventh day of her death.
The group left her home on Feb 8 from 4.30pm, and Dee Hsu’s car was later seen picking up her second daughter Lily. According to Next Apple News, Lily was seen carrying a transparent bag holding items such as socks and a bow hairpin, similar to the one shared by Dee Hsu on social media later.
The late Barbie Hsu was also known as Big S and best known for her role as the feisty Shancai in the hit Taiwanese idol drama Meteor Garden (2001 to 2002).

Meanwhile, Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, announced on Feb 8 that it has indefinitely suspended the accounts of Barbie Hsu’s former husband, Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei, and his mother, entrepreneur Zhang Lan.
Douyin said certain accounts have been speculating about Hsu’s death and spreading false rumours about the late actress, thereby violating public order and morality, disrespecting the deceased and their family, and hurting public sentiments.

Douyin is also indefinitely suspending the account of “I am Xia Xiaojian”, which claimed that the private jet charter used to transport Barbie Hsu’s ashes from Japan to Taiwan on Feb 5 was arranged and paid for by Wang.
Dee Hsu rebutted the rumour via her manager and said all arrangements were handled by the Hsu family, with the air charter service platform confirming that the fees were paid by Dee Hsu.
