Local 1980s actors Zheng Wanling, ‘Er Gu’ Cai Pingkai reunite for bank ads

SINGAPORE – Singaporean actress Zheng Wanling, known for her roles in drama serials such as On The Fringe (1988) and Fury Of The Dragon (1987), recently posted on Instagram about her latest project – a series of advertisements for OCBC Bank that highlight digital banking for seniors.
The ads also featured veteran actors Cai Pingkai and Yun Changcou.
Cai, affectionately known as Er Gu to Singaporeans who grew up watching the popular sitcom Neighbours (1986 to 1988), starred alongside Zheng in two of the ads.
“Saw Er Gu the other day, we were having fun queueing up,” Zheng, 59, posted on Instagram on June 10.
The light-hearted advertisement depicted Zheng teaching Er Gu a “simpler way to queue” using her mobile banking app.
In another ad, the actress demonstrated to Er Gu the convenience of using PayNow.
The other 1980s actor Zheng teamed up with was Yun, also known as Steven Woon. In a clip that highlighted the importance of financial security, she taught Yun how to identify potential scams and gave him tips on protecting his bank account.
Yun used to be a fixture on local TV, having starred in series such as The Return Of The Condor Heroes (1998) and Under One Roof (1999). THE NEW PAPER
