SEOUL – Korean-American K-pop star Ailee, 35, is set to marry South Korean actor Choi Si-hun, 32, in April 2025, her management agency A2Z Entertainment announced on Nov 19.

The two met through a mutual acquaintance and have been openly dating for about a year. They became engaged in May after developing a deep bond built on love and trust, the agency said.

“I have met someone who is not only supportive and caring, but also someone I can rely on. His understanding and consideration made me want to spend the rest of my life with him,” Ailee, whose real name is Amy Lee Ye-jin, posted on her official fan website.

Known for her powerhouse vocals, Ailee debuted in 2012 and has since released numerous hit songs such as I Will Show You (2012) and I Will Go To You Like The First Snow (2017) – part of the soundtrack for the hit drama Goblin (2016 to 2017).

Choi debuted as an actor in 2019 with the romantic-comedy web drama series I Started Following Romance, and gained more attention in 2021, when he took part in the first season of the popular Netflix dating reality programme Single’s Inferno (2021 to present).

The couple thanked the public for its warm reception to the news of their engagement on their respective Instagram accounts on Nov 20.

Ailee wrote: “Yesterday was a really happy day. Many of you sent many blessings, cheers and congratulations. We will live happily and joyfully.”

Choi addressed his fiancee as “Princess Ye-jin” in his post and said: “I am confident that I will protect the most wonderful woman in the world, Ye-jin, for the rest of my life.” THE KOREA HERALD/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
