SINGAPORE – K-pop boy bands Seventeen and Enhypen are not the only entertainers to film social media videos at Singapore’s tourist spots while in town for their gigs.
Irish pop-rock band The Script, which played at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Feb 8 as part of their Satellites world tour, uploaded a snippet of their 2024 song Inside Out against the backdrop of Gardens by the Bay on their social media accounts.
In the 36-second clip posted on Feb 20, lead singer Danny O’Donoghue lip-syncs to the track, about suffering from depression and anxiety, while under the night sky illuminated by the gardens’ Supertree Grove.
Tourists and visitors can be seen in the background of the video. The Supertree Grove has 12 Supertrees – vertical gardens that are as tall as 50m – and holds light and sound shows twice nightly, which makes it a popular photo spot with tourists.
In the caption of the clip, the band referenced the song’s lyrics, “But all these feelings that are comin’ up now”, and added: “Tag the one who needs to hear it.”
Inside Out is from their seventh album Satellites, which was released in August and went to No. 1 on Irish charts and No. 2 on British charts.
It is The Script’s first album since their lead guitarist, vocalist and co-founder Mark Sheehan died of an undisclosed illness in April 2023 at the age of 46. O’Donoghue has previously said the album is a tribute to Sheehan.
The band also comprise drummer Glen Power, bassist Benjamin Sargeant and new guitarist Ben Weaver.
