Fans of Laufey will know the Icelandic-Chinese singer is a bookworm.

The 25-year-old’s official book club has collaborated with local thrift store Thryft to host a book exchange on Sept 4. It is to celebrate her sold-out Bewitched: The Goddess Tour concert, which will be held on the same day at Singapore Expo Hall 7.

Lauvers – Laufey’s fandom name – in Singapore can swop their books for pre-loved ones curated by The Laufey Book Club before the singer’s performance.

“We are so excited to announce that we have partnered with @laufeybookclub to host a book exchange in Singapore at Laufey’s Bewitched: The Goddess Tour,” Thryft wrote in its Instagram post on Aug 29.

Those who prefer new books can head to Kinokuniya’s Ngee Ann City store for the Laufey Book Club pop-up, where books on Laufey’s recommended reading list will be on sale until Sept 13.

The Grammy-winning jazz singer founded The Laufey Book Club in August 2022 to share her passion for reading. Her book community has since garnered more than 165,000 Instagram followers and more than 39,000 members on the book club’s messaging platform Discord server, Laufey Land, where monthly meetings are held.

“Books and storytelling have always been very important to me, especially as a songwriter,” the From The Start (2023) singer wrote on her website. “By founding this book club, I hope to share this passion and the stories that inspire my writing with you all.”

The Laufey Book Club has also partnered South Korea’s Arc & Book for her concert in Seoul, and Australia’s book chain Dymocks for her sold-out shows in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

The book club is reading Japanese author Banana Yoshimoto’s Kitchen for August and will discuss it on Aug 31 on its Discord channel.
