SINGAPORE – The Icelandic rock band Sigur Ros will return to Singapore for a two-night gig.
The trio, made up of singer Jonsi Birgisson, bassist Georg Holm and multi-instrumentalist Kjartan Sveinsson, will play at the Esplanade Theatre on Feb 25 and 26, 2025.
Their music will be given an orchestral spin with the Singapore-based musician’s collective, Resound Collective. The band are currently on an orchestral tour, playing their music with orchestras around the world.
Fans can look forward to songs from their latest album Atta (2023) and beloved, older tracks from their discography. They last performed in Singapore in 2022 at The Star Theatre.

Formed in 1994, Sigur Ros have released eight studio albums and five EPs over the years. They are among the most globally successful music acts from Iceland.
Their ethereal music – a mix of rock, ambient and neo-classical sung in Icelandic, as well as a made-up language dubbed “Hopelandic” – has been used in many soundtracks over the years. These include Hollywood films such as Vanilla Sky (2001) and The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou (2004), as well as television series such as the period fantasy epic Game Of Thrones (2011 to 2019).
