SINGAPORE – The annual Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix is not only a feast of speed and excitement, but also a gathering of local and foreign stars.

Among them was home-grown actor Desmond Tan, who met Singaporean singer JJ Lin at the event.

“All smiles during my first F1 pit lane experience,” Tan wrote on social media early on Oct 5, sharing a video of his experience. “I smiled until my mouth went numb.”

The 39-year-old posted again later that day. “As an F1 fan, this is the ultimate dream,” the Strike Gold (2023) actor wrote. “Walking the pit lane and the Walk of Fame... These were the moments I always watched on my screen and fantasised about.”

Local actor Chase Tan, 35, started his F1 weekend strong on Oct 3.

“Met (Finnish racing driver Valtteri) Bottas, got my first taste of the Paddock Club life, and then capped it off with (K-pop’s) G-Dragon in concert,” the 128 Circle (2019 to present) actor wrote. “That’s just Day 1. Two more days to go and I’m already running on pure adrenaline.”

Malaysian actress-host Juin Teh and actor Zhang Zetong were also zipping about.

“First time experiencing #F1singapore up close like this,” Teh, 35, wrote on Oct 4. “I thought it was just a grandstand box seat. Never imagined it’d be this breathtakingly close. Next up is probably getting behind the wheel.”

Teh, a host of online variety show #JustSwipeLah, added: “Haha, just kidding. But seriously, what an incredible night.”

Zhang, 32, who was with actress Sheryl Ang in one of the photos, wrote on Oct 4: “Could not have asked for a better experience watching F1 for the first time. Unblocked view from our sky suites with free-flow food and drinks, topped with Paddock Club access.”

“A pity I didn’t get to bump into any drivers, but I saw James Vowles,” the winner of Star Search 2019 added, referring to the team principal of Williams Racing.

Foreign stars who have been spotted at the race include South Korean actors Hyun Bin and Lee Jung-jae, Taiwanese actors Chen Bo-lin and Cheryl Yang as well as Hong Kong model Gaile Lok.

Hyun Bin, 43, was seen in a photo posted by Ferrari Singapore on social media on Oct 3, where the Crash Landing On You (2019 to 2020) star posed with Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur and Ferrari racing driver Lewis Hamilton.

“As anticipation builds for the Singapore Grand Prix, a special encounter took place at #CasaFerrari,” read the caption. “A moment celebrating a shared passion for racing and the Prancing Horse.”

Chinese actor Dylan Wang and Thai singer Lisa of K-pop girl group Blackpink are also said to be in town for the event.

Wang, who starred in Chinese period drama Guardians Of The Dafeng (2024 to 2025), reportedly arrived in Singapore on Oct 4. Media reports said the 26-year-old will be making an appearance at the F1 race on Oct 5 at the invitation of a luxury brand.

Lisa, 28, was reportedly spotted at Marina Bay Sands by Xiaohongshu users on Oct 4.
