Twice This Is For World Tour In Singapore

Fans of K-pop girl group Twice were thrilled and relieved to see all nine members on stage at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Oct 11. This was the first of two sold-out nights, with each drawing 11,000 attendees.

Looking stunning in skin-tight white outfits, the group opened with This Is For, the title track from their fourth full-length album which dropped in July. It is also the name of their sixth world tour, which kicked off in South Korea the same month.

Twice comprise Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Jihyo, Dahyun and Chaeyoung from South Korea; Momo, Sana and Mina from Japan; and Tzuyu from Taiwan. They are aged between 26 and 30.

The team’s full strength for this leg of the tour had been uncertain. On Oct 3, South Korean newspaper The Korea Herald reported that

Jeongyeon might miss the gigs in Singapore and Malaysia

.

Citing health reasons, the group’s agency JYP Entertainment announced that she could not participate in the Philippines concert on Oct 4. She has faced recurring medical concerns, including panic attacks, over the years.

At the Seoul airport on Oct 10 and the pre-concert soundcheck in Singapore, she was seen wearing wrist braces.

Thankfully, at the first gig in Singapore, she appeared fine, sans the braces, and joined the other members for an energetic two-hour performance.

Fans would have been greatly disappointed if she had to sit out the concert, especially as it also marked Twice’s 10th anniversary. They were formed in 2015 by JYP Entertainment through reality survival competition Sixteen.

The singers have seen their popularity surge worldwide in 2025. In April, they opened for British rock band Coldplay’s six Seoul concerts.

Their fame escalated in June with the hit animated musical film KPop Demon Hunters on Netflix, which featured Twice’s songs Strategy and Takedown, performed by the fictional girl group Huntrix. This led to increased interest in Twice, the original artistes.

Then in August, they made history as the first K-pop girl group to headline the popular Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago, US.

While Jeongyeon, Jihyo and Chaeyoung performed Takedown live for the first time there, the track was not included in their 31-song Singapore set list. However, fans – or “Once” as the group call their fandom – were treated to Strategy.

Here are three other highlights from the concert.

1. Their stage set-up was next-level

Twice returned to the same venue, having

performed at the Singapore Indoor Stadium for two nights in 2023

and one night in 2019.

This time, the stage set-up was significantly more elaborate, befitting their 10th anniversary.

They performed on a centre square stage which already provided a 360-degree view for the crowd, but the design went further.

Two runways extended from this main stage, leading to smaller rectangular stages. There were also hydraulic platforms that elevated the singers, offering better visibility for those in higher seating sections.

And to top it off, massive LED screens on each side of the square stage projected live camera feeds and dynamic backgrounds that complemented the performances.

Overall, the mega set-up created an intimate experience for the capacity crowd.

2. They commanded the stage

The group made full use of the expansive set-up with new dance formations. All nine members also performed across different stage sections, prompting fans to eagerly anticipate their appearance at the nearest sections.

They were supported by up to eight male and 12 female dancers for some songs, such as their first English single The Feels (2021).

Each member also presented solo turns. While they had a similar segment in 2023, they used it to cover songs by other artistes.

This time, they performed new original solo tracks from their album Ten: The Story Goes On, released on Oct 10. It commemorates the group’s 10th anniversary and its title pays homage to the 2015 debut album The Story Begins.

Among the soloists, Dahyun showcased her piano skills, just as she did in the 2023 show. She played the prelude to her song Chess, which had parts that drew inspiration from Beethoven’s classical composition Fur Elise.

Even Jeongyeon performed her solo Fix A Drink with enthusiasm, dressed in a cowgirl-inspired outfit to match the song’s country vibe.

3. They asked for fans’ full attention

Besides group performances, Twice members also presented solo tracks from their 10th anniversary album.

Unlike many K-pop acts who charm local fans with Singlish and praise local delicacies, Twice kept the banter to a minimum.

There was no mention of chilli crab or kaya toast. Instead, they focused on captivating the audience with powerful dance moves and catchy songs.

Their longest interaction was a heartfelt plea to fans to put away their mobile phones before launching into their 2019 hit Feel Special.

Sana quipped that the audience had a choice: to experience the performance with their eyes or through their phone screens.

Group leader Jihyo said: “I understand that everyone is enjoying themselves, but at the same time, you’re busy taking lots of pictures and videos. I really want you to jump with us.”

And jump the fans did – with their phones still in hand.
