KUALA LUMPUR – The seven-year marriage between Malaysian actress Nora Danish and businessman Mohamad Nedim Nazri has officially ended.
The divorce decree was granted by Syariah Judge Abdul Fattah Datuk Kamarudin on June 19, after Mr Nedim pronounced the talak (the Muslim pronouncement of divorce) at the Federal Territories Syariah Court.
Speaking to reporters outside the courtroom, Mr Nedim said he will maintain a good relationship with his former wife and continue raising their children together.
He also made it clear in an Instagram post that the divorce does not change anything between him and Nora.
“Nothing has changed. It’s just that she’s no longer mine in the eyes of Islam. Trust that if she is mine, she will return to me,” the 41-year-old wrote.
Meanwhile, Nora, 42, has requested the public to quit speculating about the divorce as it was a mutual decision. “I hope there won’t be theories about our separation, as we prioritise the harmony of both families and our children.”
In April, she confirmed there was a strain in her marriage due to conflicting opinions. She revealed that they had been living separately for three months.
She had said at the time that they were trying to salvage their marriage, and that divorce would only be a “last resort”.
The former couple, who tied the knot on March 30, 2017, have a six-year-old son together.
Nora has a 15-year-old son from her previous marriage to Datuk Rizal Ashram Ramli, which ended in divorce in 2008. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
