WiZ smart lights available in Singapore
If you are looking to make the switch to smart lighting, there is a new option available in Singapore: WiZ, which is owned by Signify, the Dutch company behind the popular Philips Hue range of smart lights.
The WiZ smart light range is a more affordable alternative to Philips Hue and includes bulbs, LED strips and lamps, all of which can be controlled via the WiZ app.
In addition to a 5m RGBIC LED strip ($109.90) that can be used for cove lighting, there is also a 5m Neon Flex strip ($163.90) which can be bent into custom shapes for wall or ceiling application.
Both come with a music syncing function – the lights will flash, brighten or change hue in sync with the rhythm of the music, based on nine preset palettes programmed into the app.
For those just looking to dip their toes in the world of smart lighting, the WiZ Squire smart table lamp ($91.90) might be worth considering.
The lamp, which measures 13.4cm on all sides, has a WiZ colour bulb with 16 million colour options, which can be set and selected via the app.

Singapore lacks snow and other winter elements typically associated with Christmas. Nevertheless, scents are a powerful way to create a festive mood.
The Smitten Collection by radio host Cheryl Miles offers seven special scents inspired by different facets of the holiday season.
Somewhat Nice, for instance, blends notes of pear, pine and winter orange, while Silent Night is a soothing mix of frankincense and myrrh.
The other five candles are Joy (gingerbread and caramel), Hope (pine and mistletoe), Rudolph (candy cane and peppermint), Mostly Naughty (cherries and holly berries) and Always Sweet (plum pudding and spiced rum).
The candles come in different sizes and range in price from $40 to $68.50. All are hand-poured by Miles, and are made of only beeswax and coconut wax. The fragrances used are phthalate-free.

Dom Perignon’s Basquiat-themed bottles

Just in time for year-end celebrations, premium champagne brand Dom Perignon is offering a limited edition of its 2015 vintage, with bottle labels and boxes featuring the work of American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Basquiat was a key painter in the Neo-expressionist movement, which emerged in the 1970s as a way to bring emotion and drama back to art after the reign of more minimalist and abstract artistic styles.
His 1983 painting, In Italian, is a riot of colourful graffiti and jagged-edged imagery. It is now housed in the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art.
But Dom Perignon’s new limited-edition coffrets are another way to own a piece of Basquiat’s work in your home.
There are three coffrets available, each featuring a different aspect of the painting on the label and the box.
Both the label and box are embellished with Basquiat’s signature motif of a three-pronged crown.
Info: The Dom Perignon Special Edition Jean-Michel Basquiat Vintage 2015 is available for purchase as a single bottle ($310) or a full set ($870 to $927, check with individual retailers) via Crystal Wines, Oak Cellars and Moomba
