Philips’ compact Hair Dryer 8000 Series
If you are on the hunt for a high-end compact hair dryer on the more affordable end of the scale, the newest hair dryer from Dutch conglomerate Philips might be worth considering.
The Hair Dryer 8000 Series ($299), which comes in a striking brushed rose champagne finish, weighs just 395g and measures around 25cm tall, 13cm wide and 6cm deep (excluding cord). This makes it an easy fit for dressing tables or vanities that are tight on storage space.
Through the digital screen, users can choose a cooling mode, with three airflow options, or a drying mode, with four preset options, such as fast or gentle.
For more precise control, users can hold the preset mode button down to access manual temperature settings between 45 and 95 deg C. The airflow volume can also be adjusted in this manual control mode.
Depending on the length of your hair, you may be able to dry it in as little as three minutes, thanks to the Brushless Direct Current motor that spins up to 110,000 times a minute.
The motor draws air from the front and back of the hair dryer simultaneously, thereby enabling a stable airflow through the dryer that reduces frictional or mechanical damage to the hair.
Its self-cleaning function can clear out debris that has accumulated over time and the hair dryer comes with a styling nozzle that clips on magnetically.

Tumi’s Spring 2025 collection
American brand Tumi, which specialises in luxury suitcases and travel bags, has released its Spring 2025 collection featuring new colourways and pieces across multiple product lines.
The collection draws from the natural landscapes and rich cultural heritage of Peru – harking back to the brand’s name and origin story, in conjunction with its 50th anniversary.
Tumi was founded in 1975 by Mr Charlie Clifford. He was inspired by time he spent in Peru with the American Peace Corps to name his fledgling brand after the Peruvian tumi knives used during rituals such as burials.
Highlights in the Spring collection include the Alpha Bravo Navigation Backpack in Red/Lime Chameleon ($1,080) and the 100-litre capacity 19 Degree Rolling Trunk ($1,500).
