Gardens by the Bay unveils India-themed sunflower display
Gardens by the Bay’s Flower Dome has been transformed into a floral display of 3,000 sunflowers, set against re-creations of the landmarks of Jaipur, the capital of India’s Rajasthan state.
This Sunflower Surprise display, running until Nov 16, marks 60 years of Singapore-India diplomatic relations. It features 20 sunflower varieties, including unusual brown and pink blooms, with some reaching 1.8m tall. Notable varieties include the crimson-brown Helianthus “Chocolate” and the pink-tipped Helianthus “Strawberry Blonde”.
“The sunflower – a symbol of happiness, positivity and resilience – perfectly embodies the warm and enduring bond that connects our two nations,” says Mr Felix Loh, chief executive of Gardens by the Bay.
Architectural centrepieces include re-creations of the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) and the 16th-century Amer Stepwell. These landmarks are key symbols of Jaipur, which is also known as the Pink City for its distinctive architectural style and colour.
The display was officially opened on Oct 22 by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Finance and National Development Indranee Rajah. It marks Gardens by the Bay’s first collaboration with the High Commission of India in Singapore.

LeVeL33, which clinched the Guinness World Record for the world’s highest urban microbrewery in March, has partnered Australian craft distiller Prohibition Liquor Co to create Singapore’s first beer-integrated gin.
The LeVeL33 Prohibition Gin is set to launch on Nov 1 ahead of the bar-brewery’s 15th anniversary at its Marina Bay Financial Centre premises.
The beer-integrated gin uses the bar’s signature Brut Beer as its foundation. Alongside gin staples like juniper and coriander, the brew also incorporates botanicals inspired by Singapore’s culture and heritage, such as calamansi, ginger and mace.
“After multiple rounds of tastings, we created a bottle we are truly proud to share,” says Dr Martin Bem, founder and managing director of LeVeL33.
Each bottle is priced at $320++ for dine-in and $180+ online. The bar will also serve signature cocktails featuring the spirit ($26++ each) in November.
