MANILA - Filipino TV host Kim Atienza and his family are mourning the loss of his daughter, Emmanuelle “Emman” Atienza, who was 19 when she died at their home in Los Angeles, California.

Emman’s mother, Felicia, confirmed her daughter’s death on Instagram on Oct 24, as she honoured her memory as a source of “joy, laughter, and love.”

“It’s with deep sadness that we share the unexpected passing of our daughter and sister, Emman. She brought so much joy, laughter, and love into our lives and into the lives of everyone who knew her,” the celebrity mum wrote.

The statement also highlighted Emman’s openness about her mental health journey, which inspired others to speak up and seek help.

“Emman had a way of making people feel seen and heard, and she wasn’t afraid to share her own journey with mental health. Her authenticity helped so many feel less alone,” the post continued.

The family encouraged others to honour her memory by embracing the values she lived by: “compassion, courage, and a little extra kindness.”

Emman is the second of Kim and Felicia’s three children. As of this writing, the Atienza family has not disclosed details, such as Emman’s cause of death and funeral arrangements.

In 2024, she was thrust into the spotlight after she was criticised over the “guess the bill” video of her 133,000 peso (S$2,946) dinner with friends.

“Even if I had paid that much, even if we did have that much money, it is our choice and our freedom to do what we want with money that we earned,” she said in response to the controversy.

The late young social media influencer also made headlines in August after she stressed that while her family is involved in politics, her parents are “self-made” individuals who worked for their source of income, amid the backlash against children of politicians, also called “nepo babies,” displaying their lavish lifestyle.

“I wanna make it so clear that my immediate family — my sister, my brother, me, my mum, my dad — do not get financial support of any means from that side of the family. My mum is the breadwinner, meaning she brings home the money, and her family is not in any way, shape or form, related to politicians,” she said at the time.

Emman’s father, Kim, popularly known as “Kuya Kim,” is a longtime television personality, best known for his work as a weather presenter and host on various ABS-CBN and GMA programs, while her mother is an educator and entrepreneur. PHILIPPINE DAILY INQUIRER/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
