SINGAPORE – When Ms Kwa Lay Teng married Mr Jaryl Lee in 2020, the former hostel mates at Nanyang Technological University were keen to start a family immediately.

She got pregnant soon after in 2021. But during her 37th week of pregnancy, Ms Kwa, then 25, noticed a swelling around her left breast.
