SEOUL – K-pop star Jennie’s newest single, Mantra, has topped Apple’s music charts in 47 regions.

According to her agency OA Entertainment, after the song’s release on Oct 11, it took the No. 1 spot on the iTunes Top Song charts in places such as Singapore, Brazil and the Philippines, reported South Korean news agency Yonhap.

This also makes the 28-year-old member of K-pop girl group Blackpink the first female K-pop soloist to top the iTunes chart in the United States in 2024, her agency said on Oct 12.

The upbeat title song conveys a message of self-love and mutual support, and encourages listeners to shine in their own way.

Its music video is also making waves on YouTube, garnering over 20 million views in two days. It has taken the top spot on the platform’s chart of trending music videos in Singapore.

“This is the perfect song to start a new era. I believe it will not only make fans happy, but also showcase a new side of me as a solo artiste,” Jennie said through her agency, according to Yonhap.

Mantra marks Jennie’s comeback as a solo artiste following her single, You & Me, in October 2023. She released her debut solo single, Solo, in 2018.
