What do clouds have to do with queerness? And how do they catch colours?
Playwright and director Chng Yi-Kai’s new verbatim play cleverly sets up the titular metaphor, visually exploring the construction of safe spaces for two queer Singaporeans as two actors navigate a kaleidoscopic stage covered by pieces of white gauze.
The telling of their stories is accompanied by their raising the cloth – the clouds – to reveal pockets of colours beneath, oases in which they can be who they are.
