SINGAPORE – When my brain is too tired to process hundreds of words on a page, but I still feel a desire to read, I reach for a graphic novel.

They make reading feel easy, allowing my mind to slow down as I take the time to appreciate the artwork that accompanies the story. The combination of text and illustrations does the heavy lifting when my mind feels incapable of stringing together a coherent sentence.
