SINGAPORE – Besides being a book nerd, I am also a science-fiction nerd, a demographic which, in my lifetime, has surprisingly gained mainstream acceptance.
I would qualify that I am not a hardcore sci-fi reader. My first encounter with Isaac Asimov’s The Caves Of Steel (1954) at the age of 14 was not pretty. Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights (1847) was more my cup of tea. It took me another couple of decades before I attempted Asimov again.
