SINGAPORE – Imagine living in a cell measuring 3.5m by 2.7m by 2.4m, without any human interaction or even digital devices.

This was what Taiwan-born, America-based artist Tehching Hsieh did for a year in One Year Performance 1978-1979. The artist’s statement, poster and silkscreen for his durational performance is the first work displayed in Everyday Practices, the inaugural exhibition for the Singapore Art Museum’s (SAM) new collection gallery.
