SINGAPORE – In the cavernous Esplanade Concert Hall, maestro Hans Graf is tinkering with the celesta.
He wanders over to the conductor’s podium – from which he has conducted the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) as music director for four years – in a grey sweater instead of his usual formal black. “Am I underdressed?” he asks before the photo shoot begins.
