Who: Independent curator Syed Muhammad Hafiz, 41, who curated the ongoing show Metamorphosis at home-grown Cuturi Gallery. The show brings together young artists across the Malay archipelago in dialogue with late Singaporean batik modernist Jaafar Latiff, whose estate is represented by Cuturi. Cuturi will be opening a new gallery space in Paris inside the gardens of the Palais-Royal in March.

“I tend to enjoy non-fiction, especially books on history, politics and culture. Two books I am currently reading are Places Of Mind: A Life Of Edward Said, written by Timothy Brennan, and Living Art: The Inspired Lives Of 14 Malaysian Artists & Their Art Practice by Emelia Ong.
