SINGAPORE – It seems a foregone conclusion that the founder of a theatre company must focus on staging shows in theatres. But Kok Heng Leun, founder of Drama Box, has pursued something else entirely.

In his decades of work in the local arts scene, he has prioritised the setting up of theatres in community spaces. The content this generates sometimes appears almost secondary.
