WHO: Tan Sin Liang, 66, lawyer specialising in compliance law.

MY FAMILY: Married to a company secretary, 61, with two sons.

MY HOME: Silver Sea condominium in Marine Parade.

MY HOBBIES: Music, playing guitar, singing, drawing and painting, keeping puppies and fishes, and writing. I write for local and overseas professional journals.

I STARTED WRITING TO THE FORUM PAGE...: About 15 years ago.

WHAT I WRITE ABOUT: I normally write about matters where some wrong has been committed, especially against the disadvantaged, and the public needs to know about it.

I also write about issues, especially legal ones, when I feel the public needs to know about their rights.

WHY I WRITE: I write because I have the ability to articulate clearly certain issues, where others may not be able, or willing, to do so either because of a lack of knowledge or they feel otherwise. I write because I care about those matters.

I READ THE FORUM PAGE BECAUSE...: You hear the heartbeat of the nation.

MY WISH FOR SINGAPORE: That it will not be merely a wealthy and smart nation, but also a nation with a heart.
