We thank Mr Ronald Lee Yew Kee for his suggestion ("Make temporary walkway safer"; Forum Online, July 22).

For the safety of pedestrians using the temporary walkway at Outram Park MRT station, we have installed sufficient lighting to ensure that it is well-lit.

In tandem with the construction of the Thomson-East Coast Line Outram Park station, the temporary walkway will be closed by the end of the year. Pedestrians can then use the existing diverted footpath along Outram Road and Eu Tong Sen Street to commute to and from Outram Park MRT station and Pearls Centre.

Meanwhile, we will continue to monitor the condition of the temporary walkway to ensure that it remains safe for users.

We look forward to Mr Lee's continued support for the construction of the Thomson-East Coast Line in the coming years.
