Ongoing bus issue at airport

On Sunday evening, there was a long queue, as usual, at the bus berth at Changi Airport Terminal 3.

I was waiting for service 858 to take me to Woodlands, where I live.

At around 8pm, I counted about 40 passengers waiting in the queue. The queue for the 858 bus is always the longest, compared with those for other services, such as 34, 27, 24 and 36.

I had previously suggested that SMRT deploy long-articulated buses instead of the existing ones so as to accommodate more passengers at any one time.

I proposed using articulated buses since double-decker buses, it appears, are not allowed into the airport basement, where the bus berths are. Regrettably, that proposal has not been implemented.

Furthermore, there does not seem to be any noticeable improvements as far as service 858 is concerned. Passengers continue to wait an inordinate amount of time for the bus, as they have over the past few years.

I certainly hope SMRT will look into this matter and resolve the problem expeditiously.
