New player can spur tech solutions with lower costs

I applaud MyRepublic's announcement of new mobile plans and am pleased at how that has spurred the other telcos to action.

Having new market entrants apply more efficient technical solutions, and the attendant lower costs, is crucial to nudging incumbents to continuously upgrade and bring technically feasible cost savings to consumers. This is progress.

Consumers benefit and our telcos become more competitive globally. I look forward to seeing more of this in the Singapore economy.
