MRT construction creates danger for pedestrians

With the construction of the Maxwell MRT station, the crossing of South Bridge Road from Sago Lane to the opposite bus stop, outside Maxwell Food Centre, is a gamble for pedestrians, especially the elderly and children. It is an accident waiting to happen.

I have seen pedestrians dashing across or being stranded in the middle of this major thoroughfare.

The taxi stand next to the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple in Sago Lane is also unsafe for both pedestrians and motorists during this construction period. It should be removed or relocated.

The parking and movement of tour coaches along Sago Lane and Banda Street are also causing concern to pedestrians and motorists.

The Land Transport Authority should look into these problems seriously, as the construction will last for another five more years.
