My daughter has always been enthusiastic about donating blood. Once she reached the age of 16, she started pestering me to take her to the new blood bank in Westgate Tower ("New blood bank opens amid Jurong shopping malls"; June 24).
However, she was unable to donate this time around as her veins were found to be too thin. She was disappointed, but vowed to try again next year.
With the new blood bank, residents living in the west will have more opportunities and greater convenience to donate their blood.
Parents who are regular donors can encourage their teenage children to give it a try.
After all, the blood we donate can help to save lives.
