Make banking easier for seniors, disabled customers

POSB is popular with Singaporeans. Most senior residents feel comfortable with the bank and use it to carry out their financial transactions.

With the population ageing rapidly, shouldn't POSB look at providing some special facilities for older customers?

Many of them have difficult standing at the counters for extended periods of time.

Those on wheelchairs struggle to carry out their transactions, not being able to reach the counter top. The teller has to lean over the counter to help facilitate the transaction.

Looking at all the figures on ageing in Singapore, these problems are only going to get worse.

The POSB management could look into the provision of specially designed counters, with suitable benches for these groups of disabled customers, making modern banking more comfortable and matching the POSB slogan: "Neighbours first, bankers second".
