The morning traffic at the junction of Bukit Batok Road and Bukit Batok West Avenue 3 is extremely heavy.

Traffic from Bukit Batok West Avenue 3, Choa Chu Kang Avenue 5 and Brickland Road turn into Bukit Batok Road to get to the Pan-Island Expressway, creating a bottleneck and daily jams during peak hours.

The four schools in Bukit Batok West Avenue 8 also add to the congestion.

The problem is only going to get worse, with the upcoming completion of Housing Board estates in Bukit Batok West Avenue 8 and Choa Chu Kang Avenue 5.

The current road widening work by the Land Transport Authority is a short-term fix and not a long-term solution.

To solve the problem, the Shell petrol station could be relocated, and a new flyover built from Bukit Batok Road towards the PIE heading to Changi.

Until this is done, the jams will continue.
