I fully agree with Dr V. Subramaniam's proposal to install tracking devices in trolleys ("Install tracking devices in trolleys"; Feb 8).
I would like to take his idea one step further. Have the trolleys programmed so that the wheels would lock after a certain distance from the supermarket, for example, when it enters a carpark or taxi stand area.
Hopefully this will put an end to abandoned trolleys.
