We thank Mr Lim Fah Kiong for his feedback ("$50 'gift' with unacceptable conditions"; Forum Online, Sept 27).
Mr Lim had received a letter from AIG informing him that his home contents insurance plan was up for renewal, and that he could sign up for a five-year insurance plan, which was offered at a special premium price.
Our telesales staff also called Mr Lim to inform him about a second renewal option that was available only to customers contacted by our telesales team, where a $50 shopping voucher would be given if the customer renewed the plan at the original premium price.
Customers can decide which of the two options appeals to them, and renew their home contents insurance plan based on their preference.
AIG sincerely apologises if our telesales staff was not clear in explaining the renewal options available to Mr Lim.
We take pride in our customer service, and will incorporate Mr Lim's feedback into our processes to improve our service to all our customers.
We will contact Mr Lim to clarify the renewal options to him.
