Cut down on block washing

Given the hot weather and how water levels are declining ("Conserve resources, as mercury rises"; April 21), perhaps the monthly washing of HDB blocks could be reduced to, say, once in two to three months.
Some residents already wash the common area outside their homes on their own, so perhaps block washing could be restricted to the ground level and staircases.
If there is a need to clean a small area, a pail of water would likely suffice.
This way, we can all save water.
