Consider online voting using SingPass

The Government has stressed the importance of our nation keeping up with changes in the digital age ("Disruption the 'defining challenge' for economy"; Aug 22).

The aim is for Singapore to be creative and be at the leading edge of new technology.

I have a suggestion for Singapore to take the lead in using digital technology.

Every Singaporean has a unique SingPass to go online. This is now made doubly secure with the new two-factor authentication (2FA) feature.

I propose that in the presidential election next year, we use our SingPass to vote online, instead of waiting in queues.

This will also do away with a waste of many man-hours of manual counting.

Using SingPass is, in fact, more secure and less open to fraud.
