World Bank recalibrates efforts to tackle post-pandemic challenges

SINGAPORE - The Covid-19 pandemic was a major setback for the World Bank and erased 20 years of its work to alleviate global poverty. Even with the pandemic now over, many people in developing nations have to deal with food and energy security issues accentuated by climate change, natural disasters, conflicts and resource constraints.

Ms Anshula Kant, the World Bank’s group managing director and chief financial officer, painted this bleak picture during an interview with The Straits Times.
