Teacher started saving twice as much in 2020

Teacher Clara Geoy used to save about 20 per cent of her monthly salary. But at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, she found herself saving twice that proportion.
She is one of many Singaporeans who saved more during the coronavirus outbreak, according to figures from the Singapore Department of Statistics, which show that personal savings hit a five-year high in 2020.
