SINGAPORE – The rapid take-up of generative artificial intelligence (AI) by cyber crooks is raising the stakes for the online security industry, with some players predicting rapid consolidation in the sector.

Mr Jeetu Patel, executive vice-president of Cisco’s security and collaboration division, expects firms will integrate many of their security functions onto platforms that will be operated by no more than six providers within the next five years.
